Destroy Art Inc is very grateful for the brief time we had working with Murray Bowles. As curators, we could immediately see the immense talent of Murray who was able to capture the raw energy of our punk rock family and history. We are still presenting his work at our show, for which we are honored.
Edward Colver has created 20th Century icons with his photos. His interpersonal perspectives and explicit photography from the early Los Angeles punk scene captures the surreal, violent and sometimes irreverent moments that so eloquently document the birth of punk music, fashion, art and lifestyles of Los Angeles subterranean subculture.
His punk photos have been featured on more than 500 album covers and include some of the most recognizable and iconic album art of the late 20th century. His punk rock work has been well documented in the feature film documentary and book entitled American Hardcore.
Winston Smith is the quintessential punk rock Art Surrealist, master of “hand-carved” montage and collage, crafting his thought-provoking art since the 1970’s. Smith first became known for his collaborations and logo design for punk legends Dead Kennedys and his numerous album cover art with Alternative Tentacles Records.
He has produced over 50 record covers, and is known for his work with Green Day and publications such as The New Yorker, Playboy, Spin Magazine and countless other influential art and media projects, actively exhibiting internationally and throughout the USA.
Jello Biafra is a world class collage artist in his own right. Besides Dead Kennedys, Alternative Tentacles, Spoken Word and beyond; Jello has served as Art and Creative Director on all his album covers and packaging from “Fresh Fruit…” until now.
A self-described “cultural terrorist”, he has joined forces with Winston Smith, H.R. Giger, John Yates, Shepard Fairey, Sandow Birk, Camille Rose Garcia, Mackie Osborne, Jim Altieri and many more providing us with over 40+ years of creative blasphemy and sedition.
Rikk Agnew singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, legend and visual artist. Agnew's music career spans more than 30 years. He has previously been a member of some of the most influential bands of the Orange County hardcore punk genre w/ Adolescents, DI, 45 Grave, Social Distortion and The Rikk Agnew Band and the influential death rock band Christian Death.
Rikk quickly became known as one of the best guitarists in the Southern California hardcore punk scene, and creates artwork out of sheer joy for further creative expression.
Murray Bowles a longtime San Jose resident, worked as a computer programmer, and built up a reputation as a legendary documentarian of punk and metal in Northern California and the East Bay, from 1982 until 2019.
Bowles’ photos from the then nascent Gilman Street scene that cropped up in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s captured Green Day, Black Flag, Rancid, Operation Ivy, and countless other bands on the ascent.
Karoline Collins is one of Bay Area's most active contributors in the punk rock scene. Along with her husband Robert, Karoline organizes and manages nationwide tours of international and local punk bands.
